Here's one story for starters--Emily and I took Ty to the doctor. His name is Dr. Bartels, but Em pronounces it Dr. Burritos--seriously! I was extremely nervous about having both kids at the doc at the same time as I am not yet 100% comfortable being in public by myself with a baby and a toddler. Since she behaved very well, I told her I would take her to Sonic. FYI, she refers to anything that we order there as a "sonic." For example, if I get her a cranberry juice, she calls it a "hot pink sonic," and if I get myself a cherry vanilla Dr. Pepper, she calls it a "brown sonic." When we finally got to Sonic, we saw that it was closed due to renovations. I said "Oh, no, Emily, Sonic is closed." Knowing that it would take another 30 minutes to go to another Sonic and get back home, I offered to take her down the street to Big Red Burger instead. She said, "No, Mommy, not Big Red. How about another Sonic?"
Okay, since she asked in such a sweet voice, off we went across town to another Sonic. This is the part that amazes me. While we were driving, she randomly asks me "What will happen, Mommy, if the 'nother Sonic is closed too?" If you don't have a 2 year old, you may not be impressed, but I sure was. To me, this seemed like a complex concept for her to not only understand but to be able to verbalize. What an amazing insight into that little brain of hers! I can't help but wonder what will come out of Ty's mouth when he is the same age. It sure is miraculous to see these little children grow and develop. And now I will leave you with their adorable pictures!
